Heavy Hitters
If you didn't already know that I'm a big fan of good music, here you have it--I am! It's really good music that makes the not-so-fun things much more enjoyable. For instance, living in a town like Spokane, or for example, road tripping from LA to San Diego with someone you don't like that much. It just adds that dream-like effect that allows everything to function but subconsciously you're mind drowns out what's not enjoyable and replaces it with swirly synths and melodies. Kind of like when you take a sleeper to the chin. If you haven't heard any remixes from Treasure Fingers or any of these songs in today's rotation, they are like a couple of right hooks from Mohammed Ali.
1. Ghostland Observatory - The Band Marches On
2. Treasure Fingers - Walking On a Dream (Empire of the Sun)
3. Grum - Heartbeats

Calling All Refugees!
When people disappear, the internet will remain until its core is taken over by green house gases, freezes over in the next ice age or is taken out by a meteor; in other words--never. As long as the internet lasts, the musical safe-haven known as kevinthekid will be lounging out on his noodle in this vast sea of information.
The life and longevity of his deliveries remains infinite and like Jah--he provides but right now he's on a noodle adrift at sea! Help kevinthekid discover an island by telling your friends to check it out!
I'll leave you with some fire from Aislyn. Enjoy.

So FRESH!!
Holy shit so I just discovered these guys and look out because they're coming out with a new album on 4/20. They are out of NYC and are currently bringing a really fresh pop-electronic sound and I quote a source, "in the footsteps of Passion Pit." On tour right now with Miike Snow here's "Stay Close" from Delorean. Soak some up!
Every scene is like magnificent.

You Only Live Once...
Growing up, I never listened to much of any advice that my parents gave me -- I was out to save the world! I started the whole grandiose plan by putting a cigarette out on my hand in 8th grade and Freshman year of high school by ditching class and smoking a lot of weed, experimenting too here and there because school wasn't part of any real superheroes' agenda. I was so unstoppable that I got a DUI the first week I had my license and then I got my ears pierced- FUCK. Sometimes I like to think that that's all just evidence of me tearing it up maybe getting my knees a little dirty. Other times I wish I never did any of it. What I do know is that it has made me the man I am today.
So I guess the lesson to be learned is that sometimes in life you might do some things you wish you hadn't or you're frustrated because taking over the world is harder than you thought--no matter how much kryptonite you have at bay nor how high you think you can fly. Nevertheless, work hard and keep your head up otherwise you can't see where you're going.
For some people out there in this immense, vast universe it's harder to recover than for others; they're kind of stuck with no friends or being obese and what not. Today's post goes out to them. GOD LOVES YOU, that's why you're here. Personally, I sure wouldn't have been able to get where I am today without good tunes or God for that matter. Here's a list of some shit that makes you feel real good.
1. Gym Class Heroes - Shoot Down the Stars
2. Mike Posner - Bring Me Down (feat. Big Sean)
3. MSTRKRFT - Breakaway
4. LMFAO - Yes
5. Cobra Starship - Kiss My Sass
6. Fear of Tigers - Can Make the Pain Disappear (Monsieur Adi)

Gotta love the weekend!!
Hello to all the weekend warriors out there, yes you who live for 5 o'clock on Friday afternoons to finally let your inner animal out! This is the girlfriend stepping in for Kev who has been temporarily incapacitated by Birthday antics. It's a gorgeous sunny day here in Los Angeles and in honor of Coachella officially being 3 weeks away today, I'm thinking a little Jay, YM and a mau5 are just what we need to start the weekend!

Like a Breath of Fresh Air
There's a certain way that one must approach curing their hangover. First, you have to convince yourself that it's not THAT bad. After you've done so then it's possible to get out of bed and start your day. At this point your body needs lots of water to recharge. Now you have to get yourself hydrated - it's crucial. Personally I like O.J. and music!
I'm going to make a special shout out to Beach House and Vampire Weekend. These two groups are so good at making good hang over cure music.
Here's a short list of refreshing, mellow songs.
1. Beach House - Silver Soul
2. Vampire Weekend - Run
3. The Kooks - Kids (MGMT)
4. The Morning Benders - Excuses
If you don't already have it, you need to go out and buy Vampire Weekend's Contra. It's an amazing album.

Today, Call Me Deadmau5
Not only is it my birthday, but one week from today I GET TO SEE MY GIRLFRIEND. Some of you are probably already looking to see what songs I posted but if you haven't hold off for a second! ...As much as I want to slow down and just stare in to this girls eyes until I fall over dead, I won't. Because she might get over it. Can't be a punk either.
For Forrest Gump "life is like a box of chocolates...you never know what you're going to get" but for me I know when somethings creamy inside and when somethings nutty. This chick is SICK, it's plain as day. But when life hands me lemons, I STILL gotta add a little tequila, and salt, and make some margaritas. At least at this age. So in commemoration of my outstanding dance abilities and party logic. I'm going to celebrate my sophomore year as a legal drinker by going big (without getting in a car, peeing on anybody or while walking, or microwaving anything for more than 25 minutes.)
This song has always inspired me to go extra large when I feel extra small. I played this for the first time at a house party I had last summer (some of you will definitely remember). This verse:
"Can you stay up for the weekend
And blame god for looking too old
Can you find all that you stand for
Has it been replaced with mountains of gold?
You cannot dream yourself to notice
To feel pain and swallow with fear
Can you stay up for the weekend
Until next year"
combined with the Deadmau5 backdrop is a recipe for get the fuck up and dance. While Calvin is saying "God, I can't do this." Deadmau5 is replying "B.S." but magically.
1. Calvin Harris - I'm Not Alone (Deadmau5)
These other two songs are a few songs I made with a friend back home. They speak for themselves.
1. Let's Party
2. Life
